Abstract

This study investigates the impact of product innovation on commercial performance and examines the role of customer satisfaction in this relationship. Specifically, it seeks to determine whether customer satisfaction moderates the relationship between product innovation and commercial performance. The theoretical framework is grounded in the resource-based view, expectation-confirmation theory, and contingency theory. Methodologically, the study adopts a quantitative approach based on hypothetico-deductive reasoning. Data were collected through a questionnaire administered to 223 respondents and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS software. The findings reveal that product innovation has a positive and statistically significant effect on commercial performance (β = 0.484; p < 0.001) and customer satisfaction (β = 0.713; p < 0.001). Customer satisfaction also exerts a positive and statistically significant effect on commercial performance (β = 0.252; p = 0.011). However, the moderating effect of customer satisfaction on the relationship between product innovation and commercial performance is not statistically significant (β = −0.028; p = 0.570). Accordingly, the hypothesis regarding this moderating effect is not supported. Overall, these findings underscore the importance of the direct effects of product innovation and customer satisfaction on commercial performance, while indicating that customer satisfaction does not exert a significant moderating effect in the relationship examined.
